Blue and White Covered Bowl, Japan, mid-19th century, low bowl form, resting on a short raised foot, the cover with an applied knob, both decorated with a band of six stylized auspicious symbols, ht. 4, dia. to 4 3/4 in. Provenance: Matilde Wolff Collection since 1970s; then by descent to the present owner. Estimate $300-500 glazing flaws with numerous pockmarks and clay impurities, some surface scratches, firing cracks. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
