拍品描述: This mask is a traditional drama mask in a shape of Maurik Mortuary Mask. Oceania region. Maurik Village. Lower Sepik River, New Guinea Rare representational death mask. Carved Wood Mask bordered by rattan natural pigments fixed with oils extracted from insects. This village was the only village that uses this technique. Rangda, the demon queen of the leyaks in Bali, featured with its aggressive bulging eyes, long tusks, and red tongue extending down to the waist.
