Exceptional 12-inch Chelsea Marine Clock for the USS Canberra Cruiser, 14 1/2-in. dia. brass hinged bezel enclosing the arabic numeral silvered dial marked "U.S.S. Canberra/CA 70" below the 12, and "Bethlehem Steel Corp." on the outside of the minute track and underneath the aluminum dial collar, interior case with brass plaque reading "Chelsea Clock Co. Boston U.S.A./136336/EX1," hinge also stamped "EX1," case back stamped "342846/Made by the Chelsea Clock Co./BSC-043-101488 USN," and "EX," time-only movement, all mounted to a mahogany bracket, ht. 18 1/2 in. Note: The USS Canberra (CA-70/CAG-2) was originally a Baltimore cruiser and later became a Boston guided missile cruiser for the United States Navy.
