Adolphe Basil Routhier (Quebec 1839-1920) was a noted Quebec lawyer, prominent judge, chief justice, lieutenant-governor, composer and author. As a poet, he wrote the the lyrics to O Canada (Canadian national anthem). As a writer of essays, fiction, and poetry, his novels Le Centurion and Pauline were bestsellers of their time.
