Two similar late 19th century silver import spoons, each with large oval bowl having a crimped edge and bead border enclosing a figurative rural scene, the flat stem with applied foliate scroll panel to a hook terminal with standing bear figure, both hallmarked Thomas Glaser, London 1892 with further Hanau pseudo-marks. Together with a further continental spoon with ship terminal and rat-tail to bowl, probably Dutch. Approximate length of each 7.25 (18.5cm), total gross weight 4.69 ozt (146 grams). (3). All displaying some general tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Some minor dints/bumps. Some surface rubbing and wear to areas of raised decoration with some slight loss of detail. Both import spoons with repairs at the join of the bowl to the stem and also slightly further up stem where there is a little kink. One spoon also with a possible further repair at the bear figure. Hallmarks to both clear and legible.Other spoon with indistinct mark to bowl reverse just below rat-tail. There is engraved lettering (probably Dutch) around the outside and date 1727. Tests around 87% Ag. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of silver unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
