An early 19th century Irish silver teapot and matching cream jug, each of shaped oblong form with gadroon rim and personal engraving above lobed decoration to lower body and each raised on four ball feet, the teapot with conforming lobed detail to the domed hinged lid and ivory finial, and with a scroll capped ivory handle. Hallmarks probably for Dublin 1811, with the maker's marks of James Le Bas and Matthew West. Maximum length of teapot 11.5 (29cm), gross weight 29.48 ozt (917 grams). Both displaying general expected tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Some minor dints and bumps. Teapot with split starting around inside of lower gadroon rim. Some little edge nicks and dints around edge of spout. Some likely repairs around feet. Ivory handle very loose as lower hinge pin missing. Cracks and crazing to the ivory. Hinged lid appears in good working order. Cream jug with slight compression to feet as impressions visible to interior. Hallmarks to teapot located to base, these a little rubbed but still clearly legible. Hallmarks to cream jug located below the lip, these with much heavier rubbing and wear.
