A George I Britannia silver child's porringer or caudle cup, the circular form with slightly flared rim and gadroon girdle above a vacant circular cartouche within scrolled surround, with part fluted lower body and simple twin 's' scroll handles. Hallmarked Joseph Clare I, London 1716. Height 1.75 (4.5cm), weight 1.42 ozt (44.2 grams). In fair overall condition considering the age.Displaying some expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing. A few surface dints and bumps, especially notable to the fluted lower body.Main rim very slightly misshapen. The cup is also decorated with punched motifs, these now rubbed with some loss of surface detail. When viewed from the front, the circular cartouche does not appear to be central between the handles. Possible repairsSome heavier contact wear and scratches to the base and around the rim.Hallmarks located below the rim, partly worn and distorted but still legible.
