An early George III silver salver, the circular form with shaped raised rim and oblique gadroon border to a centrally engraved armorial and the whole raised on three scrolled feet. Hallmarked London 1768, maker's mark partly rubbed, probably John Parker I & Edward Wakelin. Diameter 12.5 (32cm), weight 29.1 ozt (905.4 grams). Displaying some general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.Many heavier contact marks, surface nicks and deeper scratches visible to areas of the centre, and also to the underside. Some minor surface dints and bumps. Some surface rubbing and wear to the armorial with slight loss of detail to parts. Damage and repair to one foot, mostly visible around the foot on the underside, but slightly affecting the gadroon rim also. Hallmarks located to base, with minor rubbing but still clearly legible. Maker's mark partly worn. Base further incised with scratch weight 30 - 18, and engraved initials to centre G.H.
