Monteverde Bronze Cupid Garden Figure Dated 1873: Cupid/Eros is seated on a cylindrical pillar looking down and dousing a flame. Mounted onto a round marble base (discolored). Signed "Monteverde, Roma, 1873" on base. Discoloration and patination from having been out doors. It appears to have been a part of a fountain.
Monteverde was born in Bistagno, Italy and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He later became a professor there.
