This work belongs to a private collection and is currently in the home of the owner. 24 x 15 cm. Matiros Saryan was an Armenian painter, founder of the National School of Modern Armenian Painting. His artistic training began at the Moscow School of Art from 1897 until 1904, a period during which he also worked as an apprentice in the studios of renowned artists like Valentin Serov or Konstantin Korovin. His painting, as we can observe in this work that we present to you, shows very clearly the influences of European painters like Gauguin or Henri Matisse in the use of colour and line. He was able to travel to different countries, settle in Russia and Armenia, and live in Paris between 1926-1928. From 1928 until his death he lived in Soviet Armenia, dedicating his final years to the representation of the landscapes of his home country and portraits.
