拍品描述: C. Bertram Hartman (American, 1882–1960); "Artist's Model at Rest" oil on gesso covered Masonite, original frame; stamped lower right recto"Bertram Hartman / Estate" and stamped 3 times on the reverse with the name Montross Gallery. Good condition. Height of art 22 1/4 inches (56.5 cm.) X width 24 1/2 inches (62.5 cm.). NOTE: Invented in 1924, Masonite had a bad reputation by 1949 from artists who did not first prime the board. This would seem to date this painting to just before or after WW2. The model's foot rests on a platform not a coffee table and suggests a live figure study class.
