A Fine Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912) Gilded Bronze Octagonal and Circular Form Double Box, the box being decorated in relief depicting a warrior with horned figure being ferried across water in a boat, on the octagonal side a mythological figure of a toad clutching a barrel and seated on a water lily with a mythological creature sitting on clouds above and dangling an anchor in a lightening storm, approx 14.5 x 5 cms, approx 850 gms Label to verso reads 'Sothebys Belgravia'.Provenance: From a private collection belonging to the Late Dermott Levins, avid Oriental collector, Levins bought from notable London galleries and auction houses in the mid-1940's including Glendining & Co New Bond Street, Yamanaka & Co New Bond Street and later Sothebys
