Criminal interest - A? George IV sterling silver presentation milk jug, London 1828 by John Edward Terry
of oval baluster form, with reeded central band and gadrooned rim, raised on four ball feet.Gilt interior. Engraved inscription to either sided as follows:
"Presented to Sergt James Hobbs, (Devon County Constabulary) as a mark of gratitude by the owners of the stolen Watches he recovered from William Luge, Ashburton, Dec 1874."
and to the obverse:
"The rules of the forced not allowing Sergt Hobbs to receive any testimonial. This milk jug was given to Mrs Hobbs on the sergeants leaving Ashburton, May 1878".
Together with a matched set of George III/IV Old English pattern teaspoons, twelve engraved AH, six engraved EH, makers William Eaton, Stehen Adams and?James Beebe, together with a pair of sugar tongs initialed AH. (20)
