Celadon Lotus Bowl, Korea, Goryeo period, deep bowl with well rounded sides, resting on a short raised foot ring, decorated with three-tiered lotus leaf bands to the exterior, five sandy spur marks to base, allover crackling, ht. 3, dia. 6 3/4 in. Provenance: Acquired in Korea during the early 1960s by the late Mrs. Poul Stengaard Hansen. Hansen worked from 1963 to 1965 as the Chief of Mission at the National Medical Center in Korea; inherited by the present owner. Estimate $400-600 repaired cracks, a hairline crack to mouth rim, potting flaws with clay impurities. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
