Japan. Edo period. Ca. 1887. Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891). Fond of dense nashiji, detail in hiramaki-e in gold, red and brown lacquer. Inside dense nashiji and floral patterns in red and gold. Five-piece. Realistic representation of drying kaki fruits on a bamboo pole. The same motif was used by him in a woodcut from 1887, one of which is kept in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg (IE1900.44). 8.5 x 6.3 x 1.8cm. Sign.: Zeshin. Condition A.
