Japan. Late Edo period. Munetsugu (active: 1809-30), Province of Iwashiro. Iron with light sabi. Rokuj? ni ken suji bachi kabuto, tenkokuzan. Simple Lotos-tehen no kanamono in three layer, finely engraved and gilt. Small fukigaeshi with sh?hei gawa, each with a gilt migi futatsu tomoe kanamono. Go dan shikoro, lacquered black, with sugake odoshi in kachi iro. Simple mabisashi with three shinogi. Old lining with sh?hei gawa edge, leaving open the signature. Maedate maybe later from bronze with residue of gilding. Sign.: Munetsugu saku. Condition A/B. Provenance: -Formerly Enomoto Collection, Kagoshima. -Rhenish private collection.
