Khmer. Angkor Wat period. 12th c. Sandstone. The stele, inscribed on both sides, ends at the bottom in a lotus pedestal with a sculptural figure on each side. The elephant-headed god Ganesha sits with his legs crossed, probably holding his characteristic bowl of sweets in his left hand. On the opposite side sits a male figure in royal raja lalitasana posture, adorned with a diadem. This could be a representation of King Jayavarman VII. The stele ends at the bottom in a cone. Height 80cm, width 33cm, depth 30cm. Mounted on a metal base. Condition B. Damages. Provenance: -Rhenish private collection.
