Description: SILVER CIGARETTE CASE Moscow, 1908-1926 Samorodok silver rectangular cigarette case with crown of the kingdom of Siam in gold applied on the lid and clasp with cabochon sapphire, gilt inside. 180 g 0.7 x 4.1 x 2.8 in. The samorodok technique, much appreciated in 19th Century Russia, consists in heating the silver at a temperature close to the melting point and cooling it abruptly in water. An effect similar to a nugget with a rough surface is obtained.
