set on a gilt ground with a pale border, the Mandylion with the Holy Face is being carried by the two angels depicted in full-height, the borders display Saints Antipas and Irene. Egg tempera, gold leaf and gesso on wood panel with a kovcheg. Bearing multiple icon painter`s inscriptions scratched on the back. Two insert splints along the top and the bottom edges. 33.3 x 29.5 cm (12 1/8 x 11 1/2 in.)
