the Holy Virgin depicted in a dark maphorion mantle striated with gold highlights along the borders, her eyes turned upwards toward the heavens and she gestures toward the Christ Child with one had, indicating him as the source of salvation, Christ shown with a scroll in one hand and the other raised in a gesture of benediction. Egg tempera, gold leaf and gesso on wood panel with a kovcheg and rubchik. Two insert splints on the back (both missing). 29.3 x 24 cm (11 1/2 x 9 1/2 in.)
