Colours on gold on paper. Northern India, Kashmir, mid 19th cent.
Elaborate design incorporating plenty of gold. In the depiction within a floral border are three figures standing by a creek, including the violet-blue Krishna, shown here as a shepherd without a crown, and the beautiful Radha beside him. Both wear many gold adornments and nothing but a loin cloth. The third figure is unidentifiable. Mountains in the background, and white antelopes hoping through the landscape. Impressively decorated right page, showing a blossoming tree.
