Spirited, painted, richly-figurative scene showing part of a new year′s celebration. Crossed Japanese flags on a gate, below gohei. Further flags and balloons, ladies, girls, children, a man with eboshi on the head; outer left shows a shishimai performance (lion dance). On the paper dragon is a moon symbol. Generous gold painting as well as iron-red. Old mounting for hanging. Red painted mark KUTANI sei on the bottom showing porcelain manufacture, as well as - not very legible - presumably the name of painter.
