ENTHRONED BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI
Over a conically-angular base, a horizontal pedestal, rounded on the edges, is situated upon which Buddha is seated in the "posture of fortune" bhadrasana. The historical Shakyamuni, in China Shijiamouni, is wearing a thin silk robe in pleat style typical for the time. One hand rests on the knee, the other is raised with middle finger pointing upward. The large facial area radiates quiet introversion; the ushnisha is accentuated. Behind Buddha is the fragment of a big flaming nimbus. Next to the base, on the front side is the fragment of a depiction,
presum. of a mythical animal. All-in-all explicit age characteristics, partial
mineral weathering, remains of former basecoat supporting the color.
Effectively mounted on a polished metal base.
