Yellow bronze. Ayutthya Kingdom, Siam, approx. 17th cent.
A particularly fine rendition, very ?royal“ themed depiction. Buddha wears a wide uttarasanga that almost reaches down to his feet, one hand rests against the hem and the other shows the abhaya mudra, ?offering protection“. Typical for the style of the period, the delicate, elongated and finely curved fingers. Fair facial features with a downcast gaze. Large adorments on the chest, arm rings and crown on the head with a stuparesembling ushnisha. Dark patina, mounted on a cubical wooden base*.
HEIGHT (WITHOUT BASE) 32,3 CM
* Caution, fragile mounting due to the frail feet From a South German private collection
