Depiction 31 x 21,3 cm, paper size 31 x 21,3 cm Composition of several mushrooms with the added text of the artist: "This kind of mushroom comes from the South. Their taste is far more superlative than the Mo-Gu from the North". Seal of the artist. From the workshop of Rong Baozhai. From the former Collection Walter Exner, Vienna-Bad Wildungen. Qi Baishi (1863 - 1957) is probably known today in the West as the most famous Chinese painter of the 20th century. Coming from a farmer′s family, he taught himself to paint. He resided since 1917 in Beijing. Wilhelm Exner (father) and Walter Exner (son) often visited the artist Qi Baishi and acquired works from him directly.
