Qi Baishi (1863 - 1957) is probably known today in the West as the most famous Chinese painter of the 20th century. Coming from a farmer′s family, he taught himself to paint. He resided since 1917 in Beijing. Wilhelm Exner (father) and Walter Exner (son) often visited the artist Qi Baishi and acquired works from him directly. Gallery Zacke published a small broschureabout him in January 1986.
