拍品描述: Fine Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mounted and Paint Decorated Marquetry, Satinwood, and Mahogany Piano. Gaveau et Cie. Retailed by Borgarello y Obigllio, Buenos Aires. The top with finely radiating veneers, and a hinged panel with laurel wreath marquetry, opening to a shaped music stand with laurel swags centering the monogram ìG?, over a Vitruvian scroll piano key cover centering a musical medallion; the serpentine case sides with trelliswork parquetry, the right side centering a finely painted panel depicting Apollo holding a lyre among mermaids within elaborate gilt bronze encadrements; the three cabriole legs headed by reserves with shell, cattail, and laurel mounts continuing to ribbon and reeded chutes terminating in leaf cast ovoid sabots; inlaid GAVEAU ET CIE, PARIS and BORGARELLO Y OBIGLIO. Circa 1900. Dimensions of piano 38 1/2 x 62 x 92 inches (97.8 x 157.5 x 233.7 cm). Dimensions of piano bench 21 1/2 x 36 x 16 1/2 inches (54.6 x 91.4 x 41.9 cm). Borbarello y Obiglio were exclusive importers of fine pianos and musical instruments to Argentina. Originally from Bologna, they established business in Buenos Aires in 1895. In 1914 the firm became Obiglio & Hijos importing XXXXX automobiles from around the world. Mario Obiglio was president of the Club Ciclistico for 22 years. King Vittorio Emmanuele III bestowed upon Mario the title of Cavaliere Ufficiale della Cornona díItalia.
