Pair Chinese Bronze Age Spearheads, ex-Piscopo
科罗拉多
2016年01月29日 开拍
拍品描述
China, Eastern Zhou, 770 to 256 BCE (for the larger), and Warring States, 475 to 221 BCE (for the smaller). This is a pair of socketed bronze spearheads with two very distinctive patinas, demonstrating the different copper alloys used to create bronze in this period of Chinese technological history. One is leaf shaped while the other has a strong ridge and sloping sides. As the name suggests, these spearheads were made during a time of great flux in Chinese society, when kingdoms and warlords traded land constantly, and finely made weapons such as this one were a sign of great prestige; they are most commonly found as grave goods. Size of largest (they are very close in size): 6.25" L x 1.15" W (15.9 cm x 2.9 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the greatest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

品相报告
Both have patina to varying degrees; one has several tiny corrosion holes/old drill holes and wear to the edges.
