拍品描述: Pre-Columbian, Jalisco, West Mexico, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. One of my favorites, this is a lively red and cream slip coyote standing with its tail cocked forward and ears back, in the unmistakable pose of a canine who has seen something to draw its interest. In Mesoamerica, the coyote was associated with military might and some trace the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl back to a pre-Aztec coyote deity. Size: 4.5" W x 3.5" H (11.4 cm x 8.9 cm).

Provenance: Estate of Dr. Peter Arnovick, Los Altos, CA collected before 1970
