拍品描述: Pre-Columbian, Classic Maya, Guatemala or Mexico, ca. 600 to 900 CE. This is a fantastic piece of functional pottery sculpture! It is a whistle in the form of a bird caught in the act of snagging some prey. There are delightful details on the wings, giving them texture, and the bird's head. Naturalistic depictions of observable wildlife like this is of the hallmarks of Classic Maya art. Size: 3.5" W x 4" H (8.9 cm x 10.2 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Professor Peter Arnovick Collection, CA collected before 1970
