拍品描述: Pre-Columbian, Chontal, Mexico, 1000 BC. This is a Tecali stone maskette with a large nose and open mouth. Chontal, which comes from the Nahuatl for "foreigner", represents people who moved around the Mesoamerican world; Tecali, located near modern day Puebla, has been known for thousands of years as a source for carving stone. Comes with custom stand. Size: 3.5" W x 4" H (8.9 cm x 10.2 cm)

Provenance: Estate of Dr. Peter Arnovick, Los Altos, CA collected before 1970
