Roman Green Glass Handled Iridescent Jug
科罗拉多
2016年01月29日 开拍
拍品描述
Rome, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. This is a free blown green glass vessel with an ample chamber, a short cylindrical neck, an applied loop handle and wide lip and foot. This is probably an unguentarium designed to hold some precious oil. After the invention of blown glass in the Roman Holy Land in the first century CE, glass became easy and cheap to mass produce, and so glass replaced pottery for most items in the average Roman home. This is a particularly heavy and well-shaped example of the form. Size: 2.25" W x 4.25" H (5.7 cm x 10.8 cm).

Provenance: Old Munich German collection. Acq 1950s.

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

品相报告
Beautiful iridescent patina; there is a small area of restoration on the lip but otherwise the piece is intact.
