Bronze. Mongolia, Ordos, approx. 4th to 1st cent. BC
Rare open-worked decorative work with edged loops on the back. The depiction offers a large, standing, four-legged animal, poss. a horse. It is being attacked, presumably by a leopard biting its foreleg. Another small animal (rabbit according to the ear) is sitting on the neck of the mount. The open-worked area shows a tree on the left. On back is powerful green age patina, the front was well-kept and is glossy black-brown with green patina areas in the grooves and on the back. The Ordos Culture is known for its love of animal depictions.青銅野獸像. 蒙古, 鄂爾多斯, 約公元前 4 世紀至 1 世紀. 長 x 厘米. 德國舊藏.
