?Brooches“ are dress pins and clasps which were used to hold clothing together. Black-brown to green patina. This object has been - according to the details from the owner - seen and checked for authenticity by the renowned Turkish scientist Ekrem Akurgal who is one of the founding fathers of archaeology in modern Turkey. Trained in Berlin, Ekrem Akurgal worked at the university in Ankara from 1941 and is the author of important specialist works about the Hittites such as “Die Kunst der Hethiter” (The Art of the Hittites), Hirmer, 1961; “Die Kunst Anatoliens” (The Art of Asia Minor) Gruyter, 1961 or the book which appeared in Holle Verlag “Orient und Okzident” (Orient and Occident). He passed away in 2002.
