拍品描述: Painting on paper. Japan, 1st half 19th cent. The depiction of kamakiri in a very subtle realism and with this unique integration of precision and fine humor. The green insect, in the West called “praying mantis“, while it is in Japan a symbol of fighting spirit, here in a posture depicted that reminds us of “prancing horses“, so it could also suggest a performance of Lippizaner horses.
