A rare stone sculpture for this size, expressively depicting Krishna standing on a lotus base. Krishna is the eighth incarnation of the high god Vishnu. In his early youth, he came to shepherd girls he liked to tease, taking butter and clothes away while they was bathing, then played his flute for their festive circle dances, as he was called Venugopala. Krishna is naked and holds the (lost) flute venu in his raised hands. He wears a hair bun and has holes in his ears for jewelry.
