Yellow bronze. China, 18th cent.
She might be the most beloved “deity“ in China and has her roots in an ancient mother goddess, but also corresponds to the most popular Buddhist bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. Here she is portrayed as the “child bringing“ Guanyin and holds a boy in her arms, which was separately casted. The hand is only inserted and thus somewhat movable, altogether a rather rare depictive variation. Guanyin wears her hair bound high and has a sign on her forehead. Introverted wise facial features, garment seams with pattern. 黃青銅造送子觀音菩薩像。中國,18世紀。 高14.2厘米。德國舊藏。
