拍品描述: Netsuke, ivory. Japan, mid 19th cent. Also here the best quality of ivory and carving handcraft, very beautifully polished and designed with wit! Naked Hotei sits in a round bathtub laughing with pleasure because a karako (Chines. boy) is diligently scrubbing his back. Even the difference in their sizes are amusing – the little guy and massive Hotei, whose body hair is also finely and spiritedly carved. Well-crafted wood grain of the tub, on bottom in an oval border is the signature MASA-KAZU 正一 , the cord channel runs between the boy and back of the lucky god. Patina and best roundness!
