Jade. China, Qing dynasty, 19th cent.
The form of this striking jade amulet similar to an emblem, actually takes after the so-called she, the thumb guard of the old bowmen. Both sides hold carved line-decor with dragons and clouds. On the upper side, a sculpted dragon with a long horn and channelled, parted tail. The white jade with a light greenish tone shows strong iron oxidation on one side. Very good translucency, the side holding iron is even deep-yellow to red, outstanding condition. Expertise and age determination: Univ. Prof. Filippo Salviati, RomeDescription in German: Wolfmar Zacken
