拍品描述: Silk. China, about the beginning of the 20th century A very effective and masterfully composed embroidery in colourful silk on a black silk background. Blossoming vegetation including a peony tree, peaches, Buddha’s hand fruit etc. The rendition with the branches is very lively and offers a number of amusing animal depictions, particularly of mythological animals. A scaled qilin (Chinese ?squirrel“, but with two horns) with a fluttering tail and beard, a hose, a humorous shizhi (palace lion) in the middle, also a tiger and stag. At the very top in the middle the bat fu, lefts of it a red-crowned crane, both of the symbols of luck and long life. The phoenix feng, a heavenly animal, naturally cannot be omitted.
