Eight large pages in powerful and dynamic style, painted on yellow-toned paper. Various flowers or fruits with tendrils, peonies, lilies, camellia, pomegranate, lychee etc. Each page bears a calligraphic inscription and one to three red seals, almost all are signed Wu Changshuo 吳 昌碩. Wu Changshuo lived from 1844 to 1927. He was a poet, calligrapher, painter and seal carver born into a family of scholars and later served as an imperial official in Liaoning. All eight pages are in passe-partouts covered with linen on the back. A fold-out box padded with textile, within a dark-blue box also padded with textile, bearing a large script that reads Wu Changshuo Zhuanguohua, “Book with a series of paintings by…”. All pages with a central fold, one with a water stains (possibly applied by the artist himself). 傳吳昌碩. 花鳥畫冊八開. 設色紙本, 41 x 23 厘米.
