拍品描述: Ca. 19th century Sukhothai nirvana reclining Buddha. The Buddha is laying down on his side in calm repose. This pose captures him in his final moments before his death. The pose is also referred to as the sleeping Buddha and symbolises the Buddhaa€?s achievement of nirvana or enlightenment. The Buddha knew the exact moment of his death and at this time lay down to sleep and simply passed away peacefully with his enlightened soul eternally escaping the cycle of samasara.
