拍品描述: Ca. 17th - 18th Century Khmer Sandstone Buddha Dipankara. This Buddha, while still showing influences of Gupta art, also embodies the youthful qualities of Buddha images from Dvaravati. The left hand, whilst missing, still demonstrates the practice which can be observed in monks today, of holding up the outer robe on the left arm. The right arm makes a gesture (or mudra) of varadamudra, bestowing a gift. This rare iconography may indicate that this is a representation of the Dipankara Buddha, the first of the twenty-four predecessors of the historical Buddha.
