Late 19th century, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This 14-foot example of carved flame-grained depicts a Winchester rifle of the era and served as a trade sign for the Walter Hatley Sporting Goods Store located at 510 Girard Street in Philadelphia where it was removed from the building in 1948. The gun retains its original metal back plate, trigger and sight. Applied to the top of the stock, rear of the sight, are applied brass letters forming the word "WINCHESTER". Note: The Winchester trade sign was mounted vertically on the side of the building. Structurally good with darkened patina, surfaces weathered. Condition: Dimensions: 168" x 14 -1/2".
