Late 19th Century, American. This very nice example with arched cresting above a cornice continuing to the carved throat fitted with a encased thermometer with Fahrenheit and Centigrade scales above which is perched a displayed eagle. The box base with scrolling crest and carved leaves at the corners centering the aneroid barometer with circular beveled bezel and enameled dial within which are the workings for the barometer. The base of dial is marked "Patent #16538". The barometer with a pendant base carved with a crest terminating in scrolled leaf tips. Case is very good with quarter sawn oak in original surface with fine patina. Thermometer appears intact, porcelain scale is very good, barometer intact and appears operational.
