Norm Flayderman collection, last quarter 19th century, American. This deep bowl is nicely carved with crossed sabers centering "Company D/81st New York/Calvary" flanked by a musket, shot bag, horseshoe, five pointed star, a bullet and an American flag beneath the name "D. Knight", the opposing side carved with the date "1861" above a pair of crossed pistols above the date "65". Also carved on that side is a pair of dice and a canteen. Well hollowed interior and a flat bottom, top and bottom adorned with five point stars and other symbols. Surface appears original, now a rich reddish brown with undisturbed patina. Exterior has been varnished at some point, no major splits or damage. Includes a LOA. Condition: Dimensions: 5-1/2" Dia.
