NOTE: Acknowledged as a leader in the Russian futurism movement, Burliuk was also a poet, art critic and exhibition organizer. He studied at the Kazan School of Fine Arts, also in Odessa, Moscow, Munich and in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. At the start of WWI, Burliuk left Russia to travel throughout Siberia, Japan and the South Seas before settling in America in 1922, living in Long Island, NY until his death in 1967.
