拍品描述: U.S. Assay Office 100 Troy Oz. 999+ Fine Silver Bar - This unique bullion bar was struck from 100 troy ounces of 999+ fine silver which was previously stored at the U.S. Assay Office. In the late 1960s, the Defense Logistics Agency had over 165 million ounces of silver in its stockpile. The government dumped the Silver into the open market in 1980 and 1981 to drive down Silver prices after the Hunt brothers tried to corner the market. This rare silver bar would be an excellent addition to any silver hoard, as they have an aspect of collectability and history on top of their excellent bullion appeal. The front of the bar reads: “Formerly Stored at U.S. Assay Office in San Francisco", along with the weight and purity. Measurements (approximate): 6" x 3" x 1".
