拍品描述
Finely open carved Chinese White Jade standing on its branching stem and leaves which overlay the Buddha's fingers Citron, accompanied with two smaller citrons. Faces upward, elegantly presented upon elaborately open carved hardwood stand.
The Jade stone carving is smooth. Having a moist milky appearance with even tone creamy-white iridescent. Beautiful sporadic golden-russet inclusion of nature fissures surrounded on the surface.

The Buddha's hand citron (Citrus Chirocarpus) derives its Chinese name FoShou and the alternative English name of "Finger Citron" from its odd shape. It symbolizes "Much Happiness" and is used as an offering for the altar during the Chinese New Year.

The citron is a bright yellow lemon-like fruit with a thick rind and long finger-like tendrils. Because it resembles the familiar hand position of the Buddha, the citron has the auspicious Chinese name of FoShou (佛手) which literally means "Buddha's Hand". The name FoShou sounds very similar to the words Fu (福 happiness) and Shou (寿 longevity) and therefore the citron is a symbol for "happiness and longevity". The citron is one of the "Three Abundances" (Three Plenty).
