Baltimore artist Julie Jankowski created this hand-made serigraph in the late 1990's at AFA Press in Michigan. Titled BATHER WITH OVERTURNED BOAT, this is print number 3 from an edition of 22. The image was printed in two small editions, with different color variations. This example is from the first edition and is marked "V.1". It is signed, numbered and titled in the lower margin. The AFA Press chop mark is embossed in the lower right corner of the paper.
The image was inspired by a summer residency the artist had at Oxbow, an art workshop operated by The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, in Saugatuck, Michigan. At Oxbow, Jankowski made several paintings of nudes in natural surroundings.
The print has vibrancy in both the colors and the gestural brush strokes. At the time the image was made, Jankowski lived in South Bend, Indiana, where she worked as a graphic designer and a design instructor at Indiana University South Bend (IUSB).
The image size is 16"x20". It is printed on heavy rag paper measuring 22" x 26". It is in excellent condition, and is being sold unframed.
