拍品描述
Finely cast, the winged yidam is shown four-legged, six-armed, and five-headed, striding in alidhasana atop two prostrate demons set upon a lotus pedestal. He embraces his consort in yab-yum, both holding a kartika and a blood-filled kapala. His lower secondary hands are held in shuni mudra, while the upper pair stretches an elephant skin behind him.The deity is further adorned with elaborate beaded jewelry, a garland of skulls, and a tiger pelt wrapped around his hips, reinforcing the fierce and transformative iconography of the composition. The base is sealed with a copper plate engraved with a double vajra. Note the neatly incised wings and the well detailed tiger face to the back.Provenance: French trade. Acquired from an old German private collection. The base bears remnants of an old handwritten collector's label inscribed: “Haruka-Vajrapani, China od. Nepal.”Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, casting irregularities, small surface scratches, few light dents to base. The pigments are well preserved. Good patina.Weight: 1,961.3 gDimensions: Height 21 cmTheir faces are skillfully painted with red, gold, black, and white pigment, all with fierce expressions and wearing skull tiaras, save for Heruka's top head which represents Buddha. The sculpture is cast in three parts, with the figure fitted onto the base with pegs issuing from the feet, and the Heruka's heads removable.
